MenHerr Antivirus has been protecting families and small businesses from our office in Salinas since 2017. Here is how we got here, who we are, and what we believe.
MenHerr Antivirus was founded in late 2017 by Donald Nguyen, a former network technician who had spent eleven years repairing infected machines for neighbors, dental offices and family-run shops along California's Central Coast. He noticed two things over and over: people were paying $90 to $130 per year for antivirus software they could not understand, and the same software kept missing the threats that actually hurt them — phishing pages, fake invoices, and quiet remote-access tools.
So Donald assembled a four-person engineering team, licensed a respected scanning engine, and shipped the first version of MenHerr in March 2018 to about 600 early subscribers. We have grown carefully since — today we protect roughly 240,000 endpoints, with a support team that still works from our Cemetery Street office in Salinas.
We do not auto-renew at a higher price than what you signed up for. We do not bury cancellation behind five upsells. We do not run a "free scan" that finds 700 imaginary problems unless you pay.
MenHerr does not sell user data. Telemetry is opt-in, anonymized, and used solely to improve detection. Our full data handling practices are documented in our Privacy Policy.
Our support line — (831) 869-7424 — is answered by a real person in Salinas, Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific. After hours, voicemail is returned within one business day.
MenHerr is a 19-person company. Engineering, support and operations all sit in the same building. We are not venture-backed, we are not for sale, and we have no plans to change either of those things.
